openMGH – Edition Texts as TEI-XML files

Supplementary to the services of the digital MGH (dMGH), we are successively providing the pure edition texts of all MGH volumes as TEI-XML download files under "openMGH".

The resources are provided under the licence of Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0). The licence includes the annotations (tags), that were inserted in the context of the DFG funded project dMGH by the MGH and the Bayerische Staatsbibliothek Munich.

The edited mediaeval texts themselves are free from copyright.

If you re-process and publish the data, please cite the source (www.mgh.de/mgh-digital/openmgh) and name the Monumenta Germaniae Historica (MGH) and the Bayerischen Staatsbibliothek (BSB).

Cooperation

In the context of openMGH Analytics, the openMGH texts are being lemmatised and morphologically annotated at the University of Frankfurt under prof. Bernhard Jussen. The full-text searchable files are available under comphistsem.org and in the future may be consulted and downloaded from the Latin Text Archive at the Berlin-Brandenburgische Akademie der Wissenschaften.

Parts of openMGH have been integrated into the mediaeval text repositorium  Corpus Corporum by Philipp Roelli from the Universität Zürich.

The charter texts are being used in an analysis of feudal legal terminology at the Univeristy of Freiburg under prof. Jürgen Dendorfer (Die Formierung des Lehnswesens. Teilprojekt B: Leihe, Lehen und Vasallen in den Königsurkunden des 12. und 13. Jahrhunderts).
